Hello all!
I am hoping that you can shed some light on what we should do for my husband. He is a Swiss citizen and has had his PR for five years. The PR card expired in July 2016 and we are unsure of what to do. At first we thought we needed to renew his card, but obviously we can't since we are living in Switzerland, currently. We moved back to Switzerland (since August 2015) in order for our son to have orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation that was not available where we lived in Canada. We lived the preceding four and a half years in Canada. He's due for another surgery in spring 2017 and we *hope* to go back to Canada in summer/fall 2017. How do we maintain his PR? Can we maintain my husband's PR? How do we deal with entering Canada now (we visit at Christmas and in the summer), with the new ETA requirements (PR are not supposed to use this)? Should we apply for a the travel document? I'm really confused. I work here in Switzerland and so does my husband, we always have since we have our own company here.
Thank you for any insight or if you can point me in the right direction to help figure this out.
Olivia
