Yes you can if you meet RO.

Yes. You need to stay 2 out of last 5 years in Canada to keep your PR status.

Hi guys. Something is not clear . For instance, let's consider a case.
I stay for 10 months in a 4 yr period, so at that point I still have 1 yr left in my PR. But even if I stay the full 1 yr, I still do not meet the Residency obligation, as max I can get is 1 yr 10 mnths and not 2 yrs.

Now my question:
(1) Will the Border official stop me from entering Canada the final yr ?
(2) If I am allowed to enter Canada and continue to stay for 2 yrs(without renewing PR, if that is a possibility at all), then will I be able to renew my PR( which by then would expired a year ago) ?

Kindly suggest / advise !!

(1) They will allow you to enter Canada but may report you for failing to meet the residency obligation. If they report you, you will have to appear at a hearing to argue why you should be allowed to keep your PR status.
(2) Yes - you'll be able to renew your PR card if you're able to re-enter without being reported and then remain in Canada until you meet thee residency obligation.

Many thanks Scylla.. Just another ques : Do I need to meet the RO myself (being the primary applicant) or it needs to hold good for everyone in my family ?

Everyone has to meet RO individually.

Many Thanks Scylla. If there is a situation where my dependents dont meet the RO, but I continue to live and meet the RO, will I be able to apply for PR renewal just for myself. And then upon renewal, can re-apply for my dependents again ?

Thanks in advance !
