Hello All,

My PR card is expiring this year Aug (Aug-2016).
How soon I can submit it for renewal ? And what is the process ?
Any pointers from people who have renewed their PR cards.

Any things to be taken care of ?

Any help is appreciated.

Regards,
Sharat Joshi

It can take upto 6 months for new cards to come.
So I guess the right time to apply is now.

There is just one form for PR cards.
The questions are basic, like your addresses in last 5 years, employment history and which are the periods when you have been out of Canada

Thanks Alok for the quick reply.
Can we apply for renewal even if the mandatory 2 year period in Canada is not complete ?
My wife came a bit late and her 2 years will be over in May-2016. Can I apply for her renewal as well now ?

Also, I have been to USA 3-4 times for short stays (2-5 days per trip). Do I have to account for those days as well ?

No - your wife cannot apply now. She has to wait until May 2016.

Yes - you must include all travel - including short trips to the US.

Do not apply before you have at least 730 days of physical residency.

Hi Sharat,

As Scylla has already said, do not send the applications (either yours or your wife's) unless you are sure that you can meet residency obligation of 730 days. Also, all entry and exits in last 5 years, even for a day needs to be accounted and mentioned.
