Hello all,

My wife and I got PR Card 4 years ago. After a year our PR card should be renewed but i am not going to meet the minimum requirements of residence(2 years) to renew my PR card. Actually my wife can renew and my baby boy is Canadian by birth.

any advice please

In order to renew your PR card you must have lived in Canada for 2 out of the last 5 years. If you don't meet the residency requirement, you will need to remain in Canada and wait until you do before you apply. Having a Canadian citizen baby gives you no benefits. Also, the fact your wife meets the residency requirement gives you no benefits. You must still meet the residency requirement if you want to renew your PR card and keep your status.

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean I can leave in Canada even if my PR card expires and wait until I meet the requirement ? I thought one is required to renew the card as soon as it expires.

Yes, If you are able to land in Canada before the PR card expiry date, you can live in Canada because only your PR card expires and not your PR status. So as long as you stay in Canada and complete the required amount of time needed for renewal, you are safe.
