Hello,

My spouse has applied for PR card renewal in early April 2013 after fulfilling PR obligations (over two years stay in Canada after expiry of PR card date). While her PR renewal was in process, she had to travel due to emergency situation (health condition of family member). She contacted immigration office in Canada to explain the situation and requested urgent processing. She sent the return air ticket but due to emergency situation (family member in ICCU), she couldn't wait and she travelled without valid PR.

She travelled back to Canada after getting Travel Document approval from AbuDhabi.

However, the PR renewal application made over 5 months before is still in process (as seen online). Could someone advise what is to be done to know the exact status. Do they cancel / hold applications when the residents travel outside Canada? Is it required to inform CIC that she is returned back to Canada.

Please advise how to expedite the processing of PR app now.

Many thanks,

Susa

Does she has a US visa so that she can return to the country via US by car or on foot?

She has already returned as she got Travel Document issued. Now question is to get the PR renewed, which is taking very long.

Likely her FOSS/GCMS records updated with TD approval and her re-entry to Canada so her file is back in regular processing timeline since the urgent basis is no more. Alternatively there is a letter enroute stating the application is being refered to the local office but given TD approval this appears unlikely. CIC today Sep 10, 2013 quoting 106 calendar days to process applications so you seem to be around this time frame taking into account what date CIC opened up your application. Factor in delays with your file switching out from regular to urgent back to regular.

Thanks for advice.

Upon enquiry over the phone about one month ago, it was understood that the file was sent to local office. The CIC opened the file in first week of May. It is over 4 months since then.

Do you see any problem? How long it is likely to take more?

Many thanks,

Susa

Local office has up to 7 months to process the card...before that time no possibility of knocking at their door...unfortunately!

Many thanks Egyo.

Will wait until completion of 7 months. Upon recent call made, they stated that it will take 1 more month.
