PR Renewal - Got secondary review email twice. Any thoughts?

Hello, I've been a PR since 2011. I had to go back to India to complete my bachelors. I came back in Aug of 2014. My card was valid till Apr of this year. I've traveled (rather foolishly) to the US for a grand total of 50 days (broken over 2014 & 2015) on work related purposes and then for 16 days to India for vacation. Here is my timeline -
Applied (sent the application) for PR renewal on 26th Apr
AOR received on 25th June (which is odd because it was a Sunday), started processing the same day.
Got the secondary review email on 26th June (the very next day, Monday).
Got another email of notice of secondary review on 4th July (8 days after the first one)
Is this just some technical error on their part? I need to travel in Sept for some important work. I know it's difficult to try and estimate these things, but given past threads and experiences of people, do you think my PR will arrive on time? I've submitted all color copies of passports, with history, NOAs and tax receipts, medical records, work related documents, bank statements etc.

You did not mention when did you land in 2011
Have you been absent at any one time for 1095 days?
When you applied for renewal, how many days you have been living in Canada?
When you came back in Aug 2014, were you asked how many days you have been absent? were you detected? what did you tell the POE and what they told you?

Oh wow, I am planning to do the same thing when I apply for my renewal - provide supporting documents to prove that I have settled in Canada for the past 2 years. And yet they still put you in secondary review.. I know they are just doing their job but I wish they can just ease up the process especially if applicants have supporting documents presented..

I landed on 10 Apr of 2011, and left in 15 days
Have you been absent at any one time for 1095 days?
Since I applied on Apr of this year, looking back 5 years from that day, I've had 860 days of absence from Canada (2012-2014, plus my work trips, and vacation)
When you applied for renewal, how many days you have been living in Canada?
I've been physically present in Canada for 915 days.
When you came back in Aug 2014, were you asked how many days you have been absent? were you detected? what did you tell the POE and what they told you?
Nope, when I landed here back in 2014, I did not face any issues, nor did the customs officer ask me any questions related to my absence. I think this happened because he was convinced that I could easily meet my RO, given that my card was valid till 2017.

Indeed, plus I have all of the required no. of days etc. I was aware that my US trips will pose for an issue, but they were temporary and my intention was to stay in Canada all along.

Yes exactly, you have more than 730 days in Canada.. Can you tell us what were the supporting documents you submitted and if you also had a cover letter?

Yes, I had a cover letter, and submitted COPR, NOAs, rental agreements, color copies of passports, a separate table showing my absences, my entry/exit records from CBSA, my medical records, my offer letter, my employee verification letter, my degree certificate and my work experience certificate in India (two show absences for 2 years) 3 pieces of govt. ID, all my boarding passes of my trips to US, my one way boarding pass from India to Canada.

Before any one can answer your queries, you need to say When exactly did you become PR? Only then anyone can say whether or not there was RO breach....

Thanks, I got my PR status since 10 APR 2011. I went through the thread that you've pasted, I decided to err on the side of caution and send all proofs necessary. Also my family applied before me, so I did get to learn from their experience

Nope, when I landed here back in 2014, I did not face any issues, nor did the customs officer ask me any questions related to my absence. I think this happened because he was convinced that I could easily meet my RO, given that my card was valid till 2017.

As the senior mebers suggested, similar circumstances being discussed and most senior members provided detailed input which may explain the steps by IRCC.

I guess it is because you have been away for more than 1095 days in one time and they do not look back solely for the last 5 years. I am least exerienced in the forum but that was my understanding from the similar thread I followed.

I also had the same thoughts. However, my mother and brother were in the same position. After 2011, they left back to the Gulf. They came back in May of 2014 (a few months before me). My mother's PR card was renewed without incident (she had also traveled to India twice). My brother's, however, did go into secondary review, although he never traveled outside of Canada, and is studying here. In fact, both of them had got an earful by the customs officer when they landed (in 2014), and also got a red flag against their record.

and prepare accordingly. My first PR application was send for a secondary review, it took six months! I was not in any breach of RO, though.

In your case, I believe, there was breach of RO by mid May 2014; Expect a six month process. As for supporting documents, you appear to be well prepared, you have family connections in Canada to is going to be in your favor.

Don't blame yourself, your going to USA has nothing to do with current dilemma. Blame it on Bachelors in India, I know the examinations are not conducted in a timely manner. If they follow a precise calendar, you could have come to Canada in 2012 and 2013 for 3-4 months and avoided the whole mess...

I just want to ask because I saw that @Leon mentioned in early posts in another thread that a PR should avoid having any immigration contact while completing 730 days.. I have yet to complete my 730 days in October 30, 2017. My mom along with brothers and stepdad are coming for a visit this December and my mother asked for my address here in Calgary when she was applying for tourist visa in Manila, I think a couple of weeks ago. Now having read that I should avoid any immigration contact.. though I am not sponsoring them whatsoever.. am I going to be in trouble as they mentioned me as relative in Canada in their tourist visa application?

I just want to make sure I will have no problems with immigration, please please advise! Thank you.
