I have landed Canada on Apr 14th 2011. My PR card expiration date is 9 Jun 2016; 54 days after the completion of 5 years.

My wife and son stayed in Canada since Apr 2011, got their citizenship, but I had international business trips every 2 months and came back to Canada for a week or two until the end of 2013. I have stayed total 120 days in Canada between Apr 2011 and Dec 2013 in between my total 12 business trips.

I will have further business trips in the coming months. After deducting these trips my total days in Canada between Dec 2013 and Apr 14th 2016 will be 702 days, excluding above mentioned 120 days. I will be fine with the addition of 120 days but 28 days short if I cannot add the accumulation of these short stays.

My questions are;
1. Can I add above mentioned 120 days to my total days of stay in Canada? Are these short term stays eligible?
2. If 120-days of short stays are not eligible can I wait until 9 Jun 2016, complete 756 days, and then apply for PR Card renewal? Or do I have to fill 730 days only until Apr 14 2016 to be able to apply to PR Card renewal?

Many thanks

EVERY day on Canadian soil counts, even if it's only for a few minutes.

Many thanks for your reply Zardoz. My former lawyer had informed me that short stays would not be counted, which would cost me 120 days. It is great to hear that each day counts.

Get rid of your lawyer. He doesn't know what he's doing.
