PR renewal - effect on citz appln?

My PR is getting expired in a ~4 months. Citz appln in process; might likely not have a result before pr expiry.

I am pondering if I should apply for PR renewal meanwhile. Appreciate your advise -will pr renewal application has any effect on the citz application - slowing down, getting tagged to move together, renewed card MUST be reported to citz appln hence delay, or any other dependency?

Pls note
1. Requirements (# days) are clear and met for both applns - pr n citz.
2. Do not have any travel plans; however very concerned
2a. To ensure proper immigration status maintained all times
2b. Just in case (god forbid) an emergency travel comes in after pr expiry and before citz grant.
3. PR processing times are showing @ 96 calendar days (~4.5 months)

I applied for renewal last June 1. Received an invitation for exam and interview a week later.

Don't worry. You can cancel your application for PR card renewal anytime.

Status in ecas changed to DECISION MADE yesterday. Anyway, I will post an update if this affected the processing of my citizenship application.

Frend of mine was asked on the citizenship test, which was held a few weeks ago, about the reason why he applied for a PR card . He also was informed that this obstacle slowed down the procces because of 2 applications at the same time.

I applied for PR renewal in Jan this year. Decision was made on Feb 28. They asked to pick up the card on July 10. Got citizenship test and oath on the June 22nd week. Became citizenship so no need to pick up PR card.

However my wife's PR was also being renewed and she just got her test date on July 13. So she faxed them that for PR card, she can't make it and to reschedule the date to September. Hopefully by then she will have taken her oath so it would be all over!
