Hi,

I am wondering if anyone tried to renew their PR during this pandemic and got it. If yes, can you please share date of application for renewal and date of receiving the card.

Thank you

Hi,

I’ve recently renewed my PR card, timelines are:
  1. We received your application for a permanent resident card on June 11, 2020.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on July 10, 2020.
  3. We started processing your application on July 10, 2020.
  4. Your request for a permanent resident card was approved on July 10, 2020. Your Permanent resident card will be mailed to you or if quality assurance is required, made available for you to pick up at an IRCC office.
  5. Your Permanent Resident card was sent by mail on July 13, 2020.
  6. Received them on July 17

Was this a request for ‘urgent processing’ ?...coz there are so many renewal requests from march that are still pending and also, till last week , the processing timeline for PR renewal was 299 days..so just wondering abt the speed with which they have processed yours..

Yes, sorry about not mentioning that before. I requested an urgent processing related to my relative critical illness and urgency to travel overseas. So, that might impact the timelines. I haven’t received any confirmation whether the case was considered as “urgent” though.

Sent mine in the last week in June. I had it tracked and they received July 3rd. It hasn’t even shown up in the system yet. So, that means no has even touched my application. Hopefully, it show up soon.

canada.ca is showing 137 days for PR card renewal. if you have less than 6 months validity left on PR card, you can still travel correct?

You can travel, but you’ll need to get a travel doc once you are outside of the country if you plan on using commercial transportation to get back into Canada.

Ugh. I had hoped to avoid this. Originally I was supposed to have my citizen test on March 24th. So, I would have gotten my citizenship before my card expired. Unfortunately, that doesn’t look like it’ll happen.

sorry to hijack this thread, I'm preparing documents for PR renewal, one quick question:

For Q20 Travel history, it says I can attached another paper if the spaces are not enough.

Does this mean I will need to print the same page of that form separately OR just use a self-made word docs to list my travel history?

Thanks.

You have to take the print out of the same page again and fill in further info...no self made docs..

Even if I have like 4 months validity left on PR card when I return to Canada? I still need to get travel doc? Or is it required only if my PR card expires when o am abroad?

Travel doc is needed only if your PR card expires while you are outside canada
