Hello. I have had my PR for 5 years, but did not meet the required days, so I sent it for renewal. The card has expired now, but they called me for an interview to decide whether to approve the renewal or not. I gave the interview, and they said it has been approved, and that the new card could take 3-5 months to arrive. I have to urgently travel to USA in 3 days. I will be returning after three weeks, would be entering by road at Buffalo-Niagara. Will I be able to enter with an expired card, even though they have approved my request for renewal? Please help.. any input would be helpful.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
1. You can cross a land border with your IMM1000 record of landing or COPR and valid passport. CBSA will verify your PR Card renewal and likely but not necessarily that you still meet the Residence Obligation. Hint next time wait for the new PR card or reach 730 days before exiting Canada.

2. For the benefit of the forum please share your PR Card renewal timeline and interview experience if you are ok to do so. Also what grounds you presented to overcome the breach of the RO. This will help others in a similar situation.

I was in Medical school in India, so I couldn't move along with my family when they came. I came after I graduated, therefore I have completed only 352 days here approximately. I sent my card for renewal 4 months before expiry, unfortunately it got picked out for further review, and I was called in for an interview, In which I explained how I was a medical student and I couldnt leave my degree half way, and that I plan to do a residency in a hospital here, and I am giving my exams to help me for that. I showed proof of giving those exams, and she approved the renewal based on that. Now she says that the card will take 3-5 months to arrive. Unfortunately I need to leave for USA in a few days , and will be returning in November. My card has expired, and I will be entering by road. I wanted to know whether I should try to enter by road, will they let me enter as the renewal has been approved, just the card hasnt arrived.

You can enter Canada by land on a private vehicle by showing your landing document and you will be fine.
