I am a PR since April 2011 and moved to Canada in December 2012. I am hoping to get my citizenship when I meet the requirements in about a year.
I have been offered a job by IMF outside Canada/USA. I know if I work for a Canadian company outside of Canada will not affect my PR status. I am not sure how working for IMF will affect my PR status since IMF is an international organization. I did not see anything regarding this situation in the law. I appreciate if somebody provides me information asap since I need immediate decision. Thanks..

Nope , won't preserve your PR status. There was a Federal Court case where a woman worked for the UN and CIC reported for not meeting her PR obligations. She appealed to Federal Court and lost.

There has been more great information on this thread than anywhere else so far - thank you! My wife who is a U.S. Citizen and new P.R. in Ontario is in a similar situation. We are in a border town, Sault Ste Marie. She works at a hospital on the U.S. side, and has for years. She plans to live in Canada 50% of the time, and live in a house on the U.S. side and / or both of us travel on the U.S. side 50% of the time. That meets PR requirements as I understand it. Yesterday she was advised by CBSA to change the Michigan plate on her vehicle. From what I've read here that sounds correct on this thread. My question unique to this thread is two fold: Would it be better to have two vehicles, one for Canada, plated Ontario, and keep her current vehicle (aging) with U.S. plates at her house in Michigan? And does anybody know if she goes down to one vehicle how the U.S. will react since she does work there and still lives there? Thank you very much.
