PR living in the US

Hi everyone,

I am a canada permanent resident since 2006. i got married to a US citizen who sponsored me for the US. I have moved to the US in 2012 with our Canadian born son.

i have recently became a USA citizen. I plan to visit my family in Canada during this year but im wondering if Immigration at Toronto Airport will grant me permission to enter the country. My canadian PR card is expired BTW.

any idea if immigration would deny entry like how i left canada over 3 years and now the PR Card is expired... really just want to have an idea as to what to expect

please note i will be entering Toronto Airport as a US citizen..

any help would be appreiciated

if you are a us citizen and us your us passport for a short term visit, i doubt you will be denied entry. just because your pr card is expired, doesn't mean your pr status is expired. if your intentions are just to visit, then there probably isn't even a reason to give them your pr card, you can simply use your us passport. if they question why you don't have your pr card tell them it's expired because you've lived in the us for the past so many years and you're coming for a visit. if they don't ask anything don't offer the info. just answer the questions that are asked. you haven't done anything wrong and CBSA can't do anything about your current pr status. only CIC can decide to revoke it after review. Unless CBSA thinks your intentions are not genuine (and have proof), they are not going to refuse you entry.
