When we first came to Canada (my wife as a student and me as a visitor) our intention was to complete what we came here to do and then leave. Applying for PR was never in our agenda. But because of the continuous insistence of family members we decided to apply for PR though express entry.
The tiring process started in September, applying for WES then writing the IELTS exams (I missed the cut off by 3 points during one round because my score was one band less and another round we missed waiting for the results of the english exams). Finally our ITA came in the month of November. Collecting all the documents took another month (I had a complicated work history and extensive travel history). We didn't pay the RPRF upfront. Finally after 4.5 months of tension filled days and sleepless nights and by the grace of almighty, we finally got our PR and today we made our landing.
It has been one hell of a journey through this process. What I want to say to fellow PR aspirants are:
* Get all the documents sorted out well in advance. This includes PCCs as PCCs from some places can take a long time
* We went though a representative due to the instance of our family members but I think you can get a lot of information here. We were not aware of this forum and the kind of help we can get from senior members here (Special mention to Asirvad Anac for helping us out for couple of questions we had).
* I had bad experiences with consultants based in India when we applied for our initial visa (unprofessional behaviour and ridiculously expensive).
* Join the WhatsApp groups like November AOR, December AOR. I think its a good place to network and help each other out.
* Last and not the least, Never give up hope. Someway or the other things would work out. The wait is totally worth it.
Wish all of you the very best
