PR importing car owned by spouse to Canada

I have a question for car import process. My spouse lives in US and owns the title of car. I am PR of Canada and planning to get that car. My spouse will gift me the car, can the title be still on his name or has to be on my name for the import?. I just found out title transfer process to my name as a gift will need me physically in US and new title will arrive in 5-10 days. We did not plan for those 2 weeks in the vacation, so I am looking for alternatives.

If you are planning "to get that car" and import her to Canada and get her registered/Insured/plated in Canada the Title has to be on your name. If your spouse has the Power Of Attorney you do not need to be physically in US to do Title transfer for family members. Assuming your spouse can enter Canada he can do export/import of "your car" himself. Your part will be just to get insurance and with proper import paperwork get the car registered/plated in your province.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I'll try the power of attorney tomorrow to see if it works. I'll keep the option open for my spouse to enter canada and do the export/import

I gave the power of attorney and he worked thru the title transfer process. Do we need to fill any other form to show the car as gift? I do not see any form online for state of Illinois. I'll fill the FIN319 for BC but I am not sure if that is sufficient
