Hi folks,

I'm a brazilian who became PR in Canada OCT/2015. I still didnt receive my PR card because they asked for new photos :-(.

So now I have to help a family member outside Canada (Ireland) and I'm only going to be outside for 10 days. So here's my questions:

1 - I'm going to Ireland, how long it takes for them to do a new Permanent Resident Travel Document for me in Ireland?
2 - There's any other way I can come back without my PR card and without the Permanent Resident Travel Document and NOT being a visa-exempt country?

ps: I dont have any more valid visa to enter canada, I would show all my residency proof to came back to Canada.

Thanks you so much for your answer.

Without a PR Card or PRTD, the only way you could enter is by car through a land border with the US. This assumes, of course, that you have a valid US visa.

Thank you torontosm,

I do have an US visa, but I already had booked tickets to came back from Dublin to Toronto. I'm waiting the Canadian embassy in Dublin to answer me how long it takes them to do a new Permanent Resident Travel Document. If is more than 10 days, I'll cancel my trip and just cry because it takes more than 3 months to do a simple card.

I'm soooo sad and angry at this moment that I dont have words to describe it.

Thank you for the answer.

My Advice to you

DO NOT TAKE THIS RISK OF LEAVING CANADA WITHOUT PR CARD

YOU MAY END UP A SITUATION LIKE MINE

Its the London office that you should be contacting, Ireland doesn't have a CIC office of their own. The Canadian Embassy have nothing to do with PRTD's.

1. An the OP will have to apply through the VAC in London. It is unlikely that s/he would get within 10 days. :http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/UnitedKingdom/

These posts might be relevant for getting a PR TD from London VO:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/prtd-london-office-t398037.0.html;msg4981059#msg4981059
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/eta-deadline-extended-six-months-but-t401815.0.html;msg5034337#msg5034337

Seems like someone recently experienced just 1 day processing time in London, plus time to send/receive passport in mail. Others seem to say 10 days is a reasonable time to expect more or less.

However anytime you mail your passport, you take a big risk. If processing of the PR TD is delayed (due to not filling out forms correctly, VO asking for more info, or just their own incompetence), or if mail is lost, one could find themselves with no passport and needing to reschedule flights back to Canada. Much better if you can get your PR TD in person, though Ireland to London would require a bit of a detour.

I'm just pointing the op in the right direction. If they're waiting for an answer from the Canadian embassy in Dublin about it, they'll be waiting a long time.

OP- I landed back in October too, was asked twice for new photos & got my PR card today. You never know.
