Me and my wife became PR in Jan 2010 and came back to US bcus my project was not over and meanwhile we had a baby in May 2012, now we are planning to move in August 2012, me and my wife are PR and my kid US citizen i have following question -

1) Will my baby have any issues in entering canada? will there be too many questions asked or could there be a denial ?

2) Which PR form to be filled once in canada for my baby? Inland or Outland as inland doesnt show any child info, where should i send it Vegreville or Mississauga as we want our Baby to be with us in Canada when the entire process of PR is going through.
And if I apply the Outland application do my baby have to come back to US bcus he is a US citizen? or will he get the PR being in Canada itself

3) My baby is only 3 months now and he will need his immunization and during the process of PR he will be still on visit visa, how can he get the immunization, the simplest way?

4) If my wife travels alone with the baby, will it be a problem as she was not the Primary Applicant but she does have the PR Card, and I join them later.

5) While processing the PR which might take more than 10 months, it is possible that his visit visa willl be expired after 6 months so what are the condition of getting this visa renewed or how can he extend the visa?

Please reply at the earliest.

1. When you enter Canada, state that you would like a visitor record for your baby because you are planning on applying to sponsor him for PR. With a visitor record, the immigration officer may give you longer, maybe 1 year in order to complete the process or if not, at least the entry date is registered in the system so you can apply to extend the visitor status. It would not hurt if you already have the forms filled out as you enter so you can show the immigration officers that you truly are ready to sponsor your child.

2. Outland through the US because there is no inland for children. You would send it to Mississauga. Your child can stay with you throughout the processing time.

3. Some provinces, say AB, may allow a child health care if he is on a visitor record and is being sponsored for PR. If he does not have health care, you should have emergency insurance for him but you would probably choose to pay for the immunizations yourself as it can't be very expensive.

4. Your wife is as much PR as you are and if she is returning to Canada with the baby before you, she should be the one to sponsor him. A PR must reside in Canada to sponsor so if you sponsor him, you can not send off the application until you move yourself.

5. If you don't get the visitor record, see 1., then you would fill out a form to change conditions at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visitor.asp

Wow thanks a lot for such precise answers and that too so quick.

We were so much worried, bcus, I did not had the PR Card so had to apply for Travel Permit and the lady officer who interviewed me during the process of giving me the TP said -
There can be a possibility that Immigration Officer might gave me & my wife entry but not my baby, because my babies intention is not Tourism for visit visa so they may deny my baby, but then I have to convince the officer that my intention is to sponsor my baby as soon as i land.
Can this truly happen and what shud we do, becuase we are leaving everything from US and moving.
Also, another question for Q.2 above, I will be doing the Outland application as u suggested, but do my baby have to come back to US for completing the process because then it will be difficult as mine and my wife visa will be expired by then.

The best you can do is take steps to be prepared to file your child's PR application as soon as you return to Canada. Pay the fees immediately, have your receipt ready. Prepare your application forms, and have those with you as well when you discuss with the officer who determines your admissibility. Don't just show up expecting them to take your word for it, have proof that this is what you are prepared to do and you have started taking the steps you can towards getting it done.

No, the baby doesn't have to be in the US to be sponsored Outland.

Yes, you must apply for him Outland, there is no provision to sponsor dependent children Inland.

I was trying to fill in the outland application form and found in one of the form they are asking about my financial situation since I will be moving in September and at that point I will not be having any job in hand, my question is will there be any problem if i dont have any job and if I have to show the amount of money in Bank how much should i show or is that of any importance, Please let us know.

Thanks once again for all the nice & quick responses senior members are posting, we are so delighted to have this forum since it cleared most of our doubts.

There is no specific income requirement for babies and spouses but if you state that you are in the process of moving to Canada, your wife will already have moved when applying and she can show that you have worked in the past year and will be moving soon too when your contract is up, they would have no reason to believe that your family ends up on welfare or something like that.

You don't have to show proof of money because you are sponsoring a dependent child but you also can not be on welfare if you want to sponsor.

Your baby does need medicals. I am sure they are not really asking for a PCC for a minor child.

Thanks Leon for the clarifications.

We have couple more questions since now we have completely done with the application forms -

1) If medicals are to be done, should we do medicals for the baby now and send the results along with or will CIC tell us at a later stage to do the medicals as it was in our cases?
2) Since all of us are here now and also my baby got 6 months visa entry on his passport at the POE, will it be fine to do the medicals at the locations in Toronto as is the case for Inland applications?
3) What all fees I have to pay online, I am confused -
Sponsorship application (per application) - $50
Principal applicant -$475
A family member of the principal applicant who is less than 22 years of age and is not a spouse or common-law partner - $150
Right of Permanent Residence Fee -$490
Should I pay a total of $1165 while sending my application?
4) I am sending all the past 12 pay statements of US, do I need to send my bank statements also along with?

Please help.
