Hello every one, my Name is Hind Mukhtar(Graduated with a BSc of Electronic Engineering-Medical Electronics Specialty, and MSc of Telecommunication Engineering Programs, But I actually work as an Administrative officer) , I live and Khartoum - Sudan, Married to Abubaker Abdel Rahman lives Hyderabad - India (Student in Osmania University - Master of Commerce program, has 9 years of Accounting Experience). we have Ahmed 3 years, we plan to have other kids,

We wont to apply for Quebec skilled worker program ( within the next month) from Sudan - Khartoum, we have been selected for an interview for a DV visa to USA. our plan is either to work (please give suggestion to places with higher salaries and good job markets for our professions) in USA and live (please give suggestion to the best places to choose for rising a family) in Canada (or vise verse) in border cities of Quebec & New York Border cities . note that I am the principle applicant for the Quebec Skilled Worker Immigration Program, and my son and husband are accompanying me. while my husband is the principle applicant of the DV Visa Program.

I would like to hear your suggestion in:
I- what is the best approach to keep both the Green card and the PR, and having both Canadian and American Citizenship in the end of the journey.
II- what are the best cities in the borders of Quebec and New York to work on, and what are the best to live in in the other site of the border.

I do appreciate any help and advise, so thank you in advance

It's very difficult to maintain both Canadian PR status and US Green Card status at the same time since both have residency requirements. Those with both PR and the Green Card usually end up having to pick which one they will keep and which one they will give up. If you want to end up with both Canadian and US citizenship, then I would recommend that you focus on getting one first (e.g. become US citizens first) and then once you have citizenship in one country, apply for PR in the other country.

Thank you scylla,

the thing is we have already been chosen in USA Diversity Visa program for 2014, the thing is I believe Canada is better than USA for rising a family, I was planning for applying to the Canadian PR since 2 years ago, the Quebec skilled worker program suits me since my mother is francophone and I speak french fluently, also it suits my budget since I am only required to support my self for the first 3 month, the federal program, i can not afford to apply for it. I am using David Cohen services, it is a extra cost for me, and my husband is not working currently since he is in student visa in India, what I afraid of is that may be after 31th of July when the current rules of Quebec Skilled worker immigration changes they will not fit me any more, that is why I wont to benefit from the current regulations before they no longer exist.

I believe some one wrote in this forum that if you lived in the border in either Canada or the USA, and worked in the other site you can maintain both Green Card and PR,

So what do you think?

In my opinion you will not be able to maintain your Green Card if you do this. To keep your Green Card, you must actually live in the US - not just work there. You may be able to pull this off for a while. However sooner or later I think you will be stopped by US immigration and told that you either have to move to the US to live or give up your Green Card status.

OK, what about if I stay with in the Quebecois Border cities, and my husband stays in the New York border cities, and we cross the borders to see each other every now and then, which cities in the boarders would you suggest for us, tell us about the cons and pos of each one of your suggestion.
