Hi,
I am going to land in Sep 2010 but my Immigration visa was issued on Feb 2010. I am planning to stay out of Canada for less than 3 years to meet 730 day obligation of PR. From which date (landing/ immigration visa date) 5 year PR validity count starts?

Thanks.

Landing. The day PR is granted is day 1 out of 730.

Make sure you keep accurate records if you're planning to cut it close, and leave some time left "in the bank" in case you have to leave Canada at some point in those last two years e.g. for a family emergency. Also make sure you understand how the residency obligation works after the first 5 years (rolling 5-years "window").

Leon, Matthewc and other seniors for your advice please

I have landed in October 2009 and after spending 40 days returned back. I have some questions if you guys can please clarify.

How many days I have to spend in Canada during 5 years of PR to apply for citizenship?

How long I can stay outside Canada and then return to complete residency requirement.

If I stay for 2 years in Canada and then get the PR renewal how many days further I have to spend to complete citizenship requirements?

Please explain what is meant by 5 years rolling.

Thanks

Hello everybody!

They say that ones need 30-40 days to reiceive PR after landing. Are those open days only?
