Hi friends,

I have received my PR card today. It doesn't have my signature. Is this a new format or a mistake? Please verify..

Thanks.

New format doesn't have signatures. Your card is fine.

Thanks for your response.

How long you have to wait to get this card from landing date?

do we have to wait for the PR card to arrive before we can travel out of Canada? I heard someone saying that the PR visa is only single entry, which means that we have to have the PR card before we can go out so we can come back to Canada...

Yes you need PR card to travel outside Canada. If you need to travel then you need to get travel documents and that will be a single entry visa.

Yes, the PR visa is single entry visa. So it is better to get the PR card before traveling outside Canada. Without PR card you won't able to avail any public transportation to enter Canada. However, you may drive your own car.

CIC website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/pr-card/index.asp

Returning to Canada by car:
If you do not present your card when you return to Canada, you may be asked to show one of the following documents:

a completed Confirmation of Permanent Residence form;
the original Record of Landing (if it is dated 1973 or later);
a passport stamped with the date you were granted permanent residence (if your Record of Landing is dated 1972 or earlier);
a certified true copy of a Record of Landing document issued by CIC National Headquarters; or
a letter issued by CIC National Headquarters attesting to your permanent resident status.

The border services officer may also need to confirm your permanent resident status by asking you questions and checking our information systems.

Second option is to apply for Travel Document to re-enter Canada using public transportation if you don't have PR card.

You cant travel outside canada by airplane without PR card however you can by car (going to US) just bring your passport with US tourist visa and your COPR, and @ the POE they will give you a multiple entry pass card which cost $6.

Travel out side Canada before recive PR card.

Hi,
Today I became a landed immigrant (Canada) by crossing US border and entering back to Canada. I got to know, it will take 6-8 week to get my PR card. Since I have been working in Canada before get my PR status, I got Canadian multiple entry work visa stamped on my passport and it is valid until 2014 November. It has not been cancelled when PR visa is stamped on my passport. At border, Immigration officer advised me, not to travel outside Canada until receive my PR card since most of air lines will not accept COPR document as valid document to enter Canada. Next week I have to go outside Canada and come back. Therefore Can I use above work visa (still valid) to travel back to Canada before receive my PR card. If anyone has faced same situation please reply.
