I’ve lived in Canada for over 35 years and have a valid PR card. I recently moved back to my home country. I’m heading back in a few months to visit my family there and wonder if I could renew my PR card from outside the country but saying I’m applying from within for the purpose of the application?

You can only renew inside Canada.

Yes I understand that’s what it says but are there any repercussions if I do? I have a Canadian mailing address and I’m just trying to fast track it although it doesn’t expire yet (within 9 months)

They can delay or hold it for pickup in Canada, negating the benefit. For starters. Wait until you return to Canada and then apply from within.

Note of course, even having the PR card doesn't resolve issues if you're not compliant with the residency obligation.

So you’re asking if misrepresentation is Ok ?

You are aware that the IRCC tracks your location ?

If the OLG tracks that I’m in Ontario to be able to buy a lottery ticket in Ontario , assume the IRCC will be able to track where you submit an application

Play stupid games & find out

Do you have a source for this?

I suppose it's possible that CBSA may have exit records that IRCC can obtain, but how does IRCC track movement on their own? Besides, if this is true why is travel history a requirement for a renewed PR Card...if IRCC already knows where the PR has been?
