Hi - If I haven't met the two year residency but I am short by few months, can I make up that time without leaving the country and apply after my two year period is complete to get my renewed PR card or is that out of the question? Also is there likely to be a denial of my PR card renewal even if I complete two years within last 5 year period but not within the 5 year of landing date (As in landing date was 6 years ago)?

No requirement for you to renew your pr card unless you plan to travel. Don’t renew until you have the required 730 days plus a buffer (say 90 days). Once you are beyond the initial 5 year period, it becomes a rolling 5 year. Time in Canada (or outside for that matter) falls off and can’t and won’t be counter either to your residency or against it. So at anytime you encounter CBSA or IRCC after 5 years as a pr, you need to have 730 days in Canada.
