Hi all,
So the case is my girlfriend, who is from Taiwan, got her PR status and PR card several years ago with her family, but she didn't stay in Canada and hence, her PR card expired early this year. She's now in Canada with me, but she couldn't leave Canada and she couldn't get her PR card renewed since she hasn't stayed in Canada over 2 years within the past 5 years. So what's her options here? She's applied to renew her card even though she knows that she doesn't meet the minimum requirement ( staying period). So if her renewal request got refused, should she just stay in Canada for another 2 years and then apply for PR again? or apply for Citizenship? or get married with me (I'm Canadian Citizen) to get the citizenship?

Thanks for your help :)

She needs to remain in Canada and meet the residency requirement before she can apply to renew her card.

If she applies too early, her renewal will be refused. If her renewal request is refused, her PR status will be revoked and she will be told to leave Canada.

If she loses her PR status, you can certainly sponsor her once you are either married or have lived together continuously for at least one full year.

Thanks for the quick reply. She hasn't already submitted the request, so from what you said, her status would get revoked and she would be forced the leave Canada? Is there a way to cancel the submitted request ? She has only lived in Canada for over a year so far , hasn't meet the minimum 2-year requirement yet.
