If my PR card is expired in three months time and I plan to travel in 4 months time. Is it fine to apply now? Do I need to show proof of travel for the travel? I meet RO.

Yes, it's find to apply now. No you don't need to include proof of travel.

In Alberta, some cases are taking more than 6 months. You better let them know your travel plans in advance, sometimes it helps- if your eligibility for renewal is clear and without any issues.

Like a plum have left the renewal to the last minute, or more accurately well beyond the last minute... My PR card expires early Feb 2016 and will need to travel throughout the first 6 months of 2016 for work following signing of contract. Unfortunately we are not in a position to start planning and booking trips for the period after my PR card expires, so does anyone know if a letter from my company (Canadian) expressing their need for me to travel will suffice as evidence for an Urgent application (where copy of tickets and receipt of payment is normally required)?
