PR CARD RENEWAL

Hi, I became PR in Aug 2007. I left back to the US and did not come back until Oct 2010. Now I am here in Canada (sep 2012 now) and plan to be here continously. My PR card expired in Aug 2012. To meet residency obligations, I need to accumulate the 730 days and can continue staying in Canada after expiry of my PR card, and then apply once I have accumulated the 730 days and send in the renewal application. (In between Oct 2010 and Aug 2012, i did leave Canada for 1 month each, on two occasions and so now, I have 2 more lesser months of stay between Oct 2010 and Aug 2012)

So, in my case, If I stay, until Dec 15 2012, and then send in the renewal app, will my renewal be approved and i will get a new PR card?

I sincerely appreciate any advice or comments in this regard.

Yes, as long as you have 730 days residence when you apply.

Dear PMM,

I have a slight concern;

Aug 2007 till Aug 2012 is the PR validity. So that means during that period the PR holder should be in Canada for 730 days.

Am I right?

Hi All,

My case is

Aug 07- became PR

Reentered Canada only in Sep 2010

Now it is Sep 2012

I exited Canada in between sep 2010 and Sep 2012, two times, each for 1 month

So I am planning to stay until Dec 2012 (though on an expired PR card) AND then apply for renewal.

Hope staying past PR Card expiry and accumulating 730 days is ok. Do the days I stay in Canada past the PR card expiry count towards accumulating 730 days?

Any advice is most appreciated.
