Hello,

My PR card is expiring Feb 2012, I am outside of canada right now and plans to come back this Nov to renew my PR card. I have met the residency requirement of 730 days, how long does it take to get my renewal processed, is there such a thing as expedite processing? I've looked at some firms in Toronto that guarantees renewal within 30 days, is this legal? Also, do I have to be present in Canada to get my new card? I plan to leave Canada again as soon as my new card comes out, is the new card valid for another 5 years, do I need to come back to Canada and stay for another 730 days again? I have a thriving business back home and would like to settle everything in the coming years before I decide to finally settle for good in Canada.

Is applying for the renewal in Nov too soon if my card expires in Feb 2012, or how soon can I apply, is December too late?

PR card renewal processing currently takes 150 days. See here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp

You can request expedited processing if you have evidence of future travel. Instructions for requesting expedite processing are here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/pr-card/apply-how.asp#urgent

To maintain your PR status, you must continue to live 2 out of every 5 years in Canada.

You can certainly apply for your renewal in November.
