Both options possible, PRTD processing time vary from country to country. Check the cic website for that specific to the country you will be traveling to. If you have US visa then that is also possible but you have to travel to Canada in a rent a car, taxi or any other private vehicle.

Order GCMS. Get a top notch lawyer and file a JR. Spend some money and learn to fight for your rights. PR is your right. There is NO LAW under which CIC is staying away from issuing PR cards in SR cases. Just remember, you must have full 2 years in Canada, else all this will backfire.

Sometimes the best way to make the government do its job fairly, is to take them to court.

Hi, Seniors, my renewal of P.R. card is still pending even after 14 months. I had to go abroad in sept.2017 & have returned to Canada on PRTD in march 2018. During my absence a letter was delivered to appear in person at local IRCC office on 17th oct,2017 which was not possible. However on my return I visited them on 16th March 2018 along with all documents / papers asked for in the letter i.e passport, expired PR card,Health card, Bank statement & income tax returns. The dealing officer had a look at my papers & said he has updated the details in the system & I would be contacted again by mail within one week, but it is exactly one month today but no response till date. The expired PR card was also surrendered at the counter with a photo copy handed back. Has anyone gone through such like experience & how much more time it took for IRCC to take a decision . What options do I have to proceed further please advice me It .is in context of my earlier post of 29 August 2017.

So how many days Residency did you have ? Lot of travel? Was self employed? It appears strange from reading your post.

Got mail today from IRCC with the heading " FINAL NOTICE " to receive your permanent resident card & to appear in person on 1st May 2018 with the mailed letter in pink color & original travel documents (current & expired ) , , along with passport stamps & visas .Total of absences from Canada (for the 5 years ),valid photo I.D. issued by the Province or federal agencies. Expired PR Card. Proof of residence for 5 years e.g. notice of assessment from CRA.,Bank or bill statements. All the documents will be reviewed by the immigration official to assess residency requirements. I have met 843 residency days. All the documents stated above are ready for review. Hopefully I am through this ordeal this time & will revert back to the forum of the outcome of my visit.

Probably should have had someone checking your mail especially knowing that you had only stayed slightly over the RO and were likely to end up in secondary review.

Good news.I have got the renewed P.R Card today in person from the IRCC Office. The wait of 14 months is finally over. All documents asked for were examined & found to be ok & no further questions asked. Thanks to all the members for their timely advice & sharing their experiences with me all through this period.
