hi Friends,

i am renewing my family members PR card , i am their representative and have some questions.

1) my family member completed 745 days and their PR card is expiring in May next year, due to COVID i am thinking of applying early as it could take 4-5 months. i have heard that if you are very close to 730 days they may ask for more details or may chose file randomly for audit review. any thoughts about this, are we safe to file it now?

2) for the question number 13 in IMM5444 - mailing address, here i wanted to give my address as family member is staying on temporary rental, however it says they wont send PR card to third party address, am i third party in this case. i will be the representative for my family member. Apparently adding my address wont make them send card to my address so i guess i keep my family members address here?

3) for question 14 - email - can i enter my email address and not family members email ?

Please advise.

thanks,

1. There's no need to apply early as PR status does not expire along with the card. He or she should remain in Canada and wait until they are safely in compliance. IRCC may still want to check if they're close to 730 days. Proof of living in Canada (alongside CBSA entry/exit data which you should authorize them to pull) can include utility bills, credit card bills, lease agreements, payslips, etc.

2. Yes, give their address. It can be changed later.

3. Give their contact information, not yours. They can forward any emails to you if they want.

hi primaprime

thanks a lot!
i am applying bit early as PR card processing is taking 3-4 months now a days and it may increase considering pandemic is not going anywhere soon

If you apply so close to the 730 you could also end up with a more thorough examination of your cases and it will take close to a year. Would really suggest waiting a few months. Assume these family members are in Canada since they can only submit an application when in Csnada.

Thanks a lot canuck78, I did not realize it could lead to such a delay then I guess I will wait until January end so another 50-60 days are added and the days become 780 or so

much appreciated your input

thanks
