Does anyone know For sure whether the ears MUST be visible in the pictures? Nowhere in the requirements says so, I’ve seen several PR cards where the ears are not visible and the professional photographer I went to said it’s not mandatory for the ears to be visible, but I just want to make sure I take pictures that won’t be rejected again.

It depends on your hairstyle :-)

But no, ears do not have to be visible (they weren't for my wife's photo due to her hairstyle).

Unfortunately, it is not at all uncommon for the PR Card processing centre to reject photos. I have even heard of someone who sent the same photos again (they had extra copies) and they were accepted - go figure!

Go to Costco, they make PR, Canada and USA passport photos for $7 and has always worked for me!

Thank you both for the reassurance! I actually got two copies from the professional photographer because they were good pictures but I received a lot of negative feedback from others because my ears are not visible. Therefore I went to shoppers and took another set of pictures but the measurements are very different from the ones taken by the photographer and there’s a flash reflection on my forehead! So I went ahead and submitted the pictures taken by the photographer

It has to be visible. If you have flat ears like I do just but a piece of paper or something behind the ear lope to make it visible. That is what I did. You won't see my ears few meters from me but when I did that it became a bit visible.
Cosco or Wal-Mart does a good job. I read it on their review pages.
Have a wonderful weekend

Follow the card specifications too

I followed the specification and I don’t see where it says that ears MUST be visible

Agree - in fact the spec very clearly says (amongst other things):

Your hair can be down.

Hence my comment on hairstyles....
