Hi Friends. I am renewing my pr card and luckily find this place. I sent out my application on Jan 15, 2021.

I wonder if my CIC account would reflect the update that they receive my application? As I see many ppl here share the timelines and contain the information "We received your application for a permanent resident card on xxx, 2020", which looks like CIC would let you know that your application has been received.
There is no immediate communication. In my case, I submitted my application for PR card renewal on 29 Oct 2020, and got update through email on 6 Jan 2021 about application received and in-process. There is no information on card mailing-out yet.

PR card renewal application does not have passport validity as a requirement.
One (1) main identity document
A photocopy of one of the following:

  • your valid passport or travel document or
  • the passport or travel document you had when you became a permanent resident (if applicable, include the passport page that was stamped when you arrived in Canada and became a permanent resident) or
  • the certificate of identity or travel document issued by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or a foreign country
They returned my applications for the passport validity . And also they mentioned in their letter that PR is not acceptable as a primary ID so is driver license. It has to be a valid passport or the passport that has the stamp of immigration officer since your first landing in Canada . ( if you look at your passport pages you will find that stamp stating as IMMIGRATION CANADA ) plus the visa .

How many pieces of IDs they need for PR Renewal? Suppose you provide them a "primary ID" in the form of a valid passport, do u still need to provide a secondary ID as well? Or just the primary ID is enough?

Copy of your valid passport is enough . And also include all the pages of the passport That you held when you became a permanent resident. copy of your PR card and if you want to add any other ID that would be good

Hello all, how long is taking now a days to receive the card and AOR. I applied in Nov 2020 and just received AOR. But this application status is not available online. How long does it take them to update the status on icas after AOR. Thanks

If it's a renewal, according to what we see in this thread and my own experience, about 55-60 days after the date they receive your application, you can expect to receive the AOR. The processing time which can be checked on the website is 95 days at this moment and is updated weekly, every Tuesday. Needless to say, this processing time is not a fixed time for different applications. For instance, in my case, it's almost been 80 days since they received my application and my card is not even mailed and the application has been stuck at "decision made" stage since 14 days ago, due to the recent Covid-19 lockdown, I assume.

If it's your first PR card, it would be a really different scenario than the renewal. The processing time is 126 days at this very moment and like the renewal processing time, it's updated weekly, every Tuesday. However, this processing time for some first PR card applications is far different than what you see in this website. I've seen some cases that they've been waiting for more than 7 months to receive their first cards. Hence, there is no fixed timeline related to this.

If you want to link your application, it usually takes 1-2 days for your application to be entered in their system! So try to link your application in your cic secure account tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. You can also check your application status here:

Good Luck!

Yeah, I have received AOR. Let see. Thanks for your response.

Do we AOR# for pr renewal?
I just got an email as below. I don't see any AOR# in the body.

UCI: xxxxxxxx

This confirms that your application for your Permanent Resident card has been received by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on 2020/11/16.

Will I get another email with AOR#?

It’s your AOR. Congratulations!

Try to check your application status tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. It usually takes 1-2 days for your application to show up in their system. You can also link your application to your CIC Secure Account.

Your UCI acts as a password to login to their system here:

No, you do not get an AOR number...what you do get is the file number (it would be in the subject of the AOR email you just received)..using this file number and your UCI number you can check your file status on ECAS system...also, you will now be able to "link" your paper aplication with your online GCKey account using the file number you received in your AOR email....
