Hi, I'm arriving in Canada by air on May 5, but my PR card expires on May 7. So I can still enter using my PR card, correct? I am only planning to stay for a couple of weeks for a short vacation.

I DID meet my residency requirement, but have no plans to renew my PR since I don't intend on living in Canada permanently or staying for a long period in the near future. I'm about to get married and plans to stay in the Philippines.

I am planning to cross the US border after my PR card expires, what will I show the border immigration when I come back to Canada? Can I just bring my landing papers instead of my expired PR? What questions should I expect from the immigration officer regarding my expired PR (since I have no plans to renew it)?

Something to note: I hold a dual citizenship of Filipino and Australian, though my PR is applied on my Filipino passport.

Hope someone can help me with this! :)

Hi franz28! Thanks for this. My main concern is the questions I'll be asked at the border, since I don't plan on renewing my PR, will I be asked to renounce it right then and there?

No, as long as you meet the residency obligation (2 of 5 years in Canada), then you will be able to keep your PR.

Once you no longer meet the RO, only then will you possibly have actions taken to revoke your PR during your next trip to Canada.

And even once your PR card expires and you no longer reside here at all, you will not actually lose your PR status until you officially renounce it or it gets revoked.
