One of my friend’s family will be travelling to their home country on coming Tuesday,but today they have noticed that their Pr card is already expired so my question,is there any way to travel on that day?

Yes, they can travel to their home country without a valid PR card. They need their passport.

But can they come back to Canada?

They'll need to either arrive to a land border ie from USA, OR apply for an get a PR travel document.

You haven' specified whether they are in compliance with residency obligation, which is very important in this context.

What does residency obligation mean?

The residency obligation is to reside in Canada 730 days of any five year period (or have been out of Canada less than 1095 days, which is the same thing). If they've been living in Canada and in last five years have travelled little or none, they should be okay - but they must actually count the number of days to be careful.

They should obviously apply to renew the PR card (but it will take some months, if they travel soon, they'll need to apply for the PRTD). If they meet the criteria for citizenship, they can apply for that at the same time (or later) and eventually not have to deal with this in future.

So what about when they return to Canada?Do they need to obtain PRDT to enter Canada?
