Hi everyone,
I know it seems to be a popular subject on this forum. Lots of people have been waiting ages for their PR cards after arrival in country.
I got here and became resident on 10th May - 147 days ago and have heard nothing.
I have emailed CIC who told me to email the Permanent Resident Card centre at the following address:

PRC-Sydney-CSU @ cic.gc.ca

 :( 8) ??? :-\ :'(
I got no reply of course - evan after emailing them a number of times.

I also sent the 'Solemn declaration concerning a lost, stolen, destroyed or never received Permanent Resident Card. IMM 5451, to which, guess what - I received no reply!!

What the hell is going on?

Im in a job and loving my new life in Canada but after all the hassles involved getting here, I would think that the simple process of creating and sending a plastic card would be easy.

Has anyone who has been waiting for ages for their PR card received anything recently or got any clue just how to go about getting one sent out?

Any help, suggestions or funny jokes concerning this would be greatly received!! Good luck everyone!!

Sorry to hear that. What are the common problems that u r facing without card? can u show COPR as instead in every place until receive? can u go physically to their office?

Wan - Thanks for your reply....
The good thing is that it hasnt affected me in any way. I have my SIN and COPR, the local healthcare card and driving licence. In the five months here I have bought a house, got a job and settled in. I havent needed my PR card to do any of these luckily.
I just hope that there isnt anything that I will need it for in the future - Vacation for example. After all the process of actually becoming resident and all the hoops to jump through I thought this would be a simple part of the process, but it seems the system doesnt work. Its just a little niggle in the back of my mind that one day it will be required by someone in authority ad I wont have it!!

It's incredibly frustrating, I agree :(.

In general, your COPR should suffice, except for travel (unless by land to the U.S.). Don't forget the PR card is a travel document; it was never intended as a proof of status, although even government agencies have a tendency to forget that !! :(.

In your particular case, that processing time for a first card seems ridiculous ! The only thing I can think of, as you've had no reply to the email you were advised to send, is to contact your local MP. They can be very helpful, sometimes.

Hey,

This is quite delay you experiencing for PR card. Mine is 122 days and waiting.

Did you try calling CIC call center? I called them last month and they said its in process and have sent a note to their officer to update the status since its well above avg processing time.
