who knows with these guys!! there is NO consistency ANYWHERE!!

So also is the 50 days referring to 50 business days?

It seems like my account only says submitted so perhaps they have it send it out yet.. (hopefully it's a good thing with the strike just about to end).

But again, such a headache with all the wait..

Hey guys! Quick question, from what I've seen their may be a lengthy wait to receive your PR card after landing.

My older brother is sponsoring my mother and I and I am currently a university student, we are hoping that we finish the process before the summer so that I would not have to leave during the semester. I was originally planning on landing in Canada for the 2-3 months of summer vacation that I have to collect my PR before returning to my home country to complete my last year of university and then settle down once and for all with my degree in Canada.

My question is that if my PR has not reached me yet by the time my fall semester starts, what are my options? Someone suggested that I return and continue studying and once my PR is mailed to the address listed (my older brother) he will forward it to me to my home country so that I can use it to return to Canada but I'm not sure how legal this is?

Sent a webform to ask about my husband's PR card as it was over the processing time and got an answer within 24 hours. The application was approved and has been sent for processing but no updates online where I linked the app so it looks like the status is not correct or not updated frequently. Not sure how long it takes to process and then how long it will take because of the strikes!

They just said it was sent for processing. Not sure how long it takes to make the card but I would imagine it would be quite quick? Will keep checking online to see if any of the status's have updated and will let you know if anything changes

Thank you :) as far as I understand, when it comes to PR cards GCKey will only update once to say “approved” and that happens once the card has been mailed

Just checked online and the application status has been changed to approved. Just the waiting game now with Canada Post!

Update on my case,

Called the CIC yesterday and spoke to the agent, and according to him, they've only received the request/or started processing since Nov 20th which is just about a week ago.. So it seems like there was a 1 month gap from the time that we landed until they actually started the work .. :S

At least Canada post is back to work now.. RIP

I’m glad they’re working on your card now :) I think the delay might be due to the timing when the officer actually mails your CoPR with the PR picture + the CP delays :/ hopefully they will clear the backlog quickly

Thanks, we really hope so too. But it is also interesting because on the CIC account it says the date they received the application was indeed the date of our landing. while talking to the agent, he did also try confirm if we were contacted to submit new photo (which we didn't), so I am guessing there are different departments or entities that look after the process.

Anyways, with Canada post's backlog that they need to figure out themselves, I think with the card or not, we will still travel next Feb but just with PRTD or with the actual card
