Hello,
Sorry if these are basic questions, I just started looking for information and it is kind of overwhelming:/

Are the years spent in Canada for the purpose of studying counted toward the residency requirement? (assuming that I am going to apply for PR and get it before the start of my program and before going to Canda) if yes, would all years be counted?

Side question: is it guaranteed that an applicant will get PR assuming that he/she has achieved the minimum score required in the eligibility application? (I know that he will be checked for criminal cases, healrh issues..etc., but let's just assume for the purpose of the question that he is ok with these)

Q1- Yes. As long as you are physically present in Canada and file your tax returns, it is counted towards your residency requirement. You are free to do whatever you want during that period.

Q2- No. Minimum score required for eligibility is 67 points out of 100 for Federal Skilled Workers. If you get the 67 points you are eligible to put your profile in the express entry pool where a different CRS score is calculated (usually in the range of 350-500 if you dont have provincial nomination). Then if you make the cut off during their biweekly draw you get an invite to apply. Even after you get an invite you are not guaranteed a PR. You have to show proof for all the points you have claimed + pass a medical + show you have money + have no criminal record. Once you can prove all that you get a PR.
