Do you know if I am eligible to apply under baker catagory?

Following are Main duties according to hrdc..

Bakers perform some or all of the following duties:
Prepare dough for pies, bread, rolls and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies and cakes and icings and frostings according to recipes or special customer orders
Operate machinery
Bake mixed doughs and batters
Frost and decorate cakes or other baked goods
Ensure quality of products meets established standards
Draw up production schedule to determine type and quantity of goods to produce
Purchase baking supplies
May oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods
May hire, train and supervise baking personnel and kitchen staff.

But I dont make doughs and batters, purchase baking supplies as all these comes frozen from our suppliers....also I don't hire people lol..

any chances folks?

Hi,

Being a baker in Tim hortons is not considered as a skilled job.
For you to become elligible for PR under CEC, you should have a valid work permit as
A Manager or a supervisor and has gained the experience for one yr here in Canada. But in Alberta, they have a program for bakers/ fca under AINP which you will be needing your employer's help. If you also have the credentials needed you can apply under FSW.

thanks for replying..but how are you so certain? it would be better if you'd take the effort to explain .
Well, you already said that you don't perform many of the duties. Exactly which duties do you perform from the mandatory list? Bear in mind that you have to convince the person processing your application, and they will have seen every type of "fudging" the duties to match before. Would YOU be convinced that you qualify under the NOC for a "baker"? If you are not, then how will CIC be? They will reject the application.

The business practices and duties of employees at a chain as visible as Timmy Ho's would be well known to VO's.

Working as a Baker at Tims store is not a skilled job. They provide NOC 6641 Food Counter Attendant for such position. You will be doing all finishing and decorating not merely baking from the scratch because all items are already cooked and only frozen unless they will hire you to work in their bakery in Ontario.

Note that this NOC is in the old 2006 list - the equivalent 2011 NOC would be 6711 (Food counter attendants etc). That would be skill level D.
