I received my PP and COPR along with a letter of instructions. In the second page it mentions that we need to carry either our PR card or a PR Travel Document (PRTD) before travelling to Canada.. They have also provided a link to apply for the PRTD

Question - What is a PRTD? Do we need it or does our CoPR document plus PP stamp suffice?
PRTD is for permanent residents outside Canada and not having a PR card so that they can re enter Canada. So, you cannot have both at the same time.
COPR plus PP stamped would suffice.

Common sense says that PCC has got nothing to do with spouses' name being on each other's passports, but, ARE YOU SURE?? coz dont get me wrong, CIC gives you a time period of only 90 days i believe, so i dont want to take any chances.

Everyone is getting different information from the RPO/PSK offices and the MEA of course. If you say you are not married then you can go ahead and get the PCC. If you say married then if spouse names are not added then you will be asked to get a new passport.

There's also the other part that you cannot get a PCC on the current passport if your current address is different from the one mentioned on the current passport. Again this is subjective!!! coz one day it is ok according to the Ministry of ext affairs..the next day it is different.

I was asked to make a new passport coz of the address as well as spouse name addition. So still waiting for PCC as the passport just arrived yesterday.

These are internal technicalities of our PSK.. CIC doesn't bother about spouse's name in passport or not.. My experience below:

1. Applied for PCC in september.. Wasn't carrying marriage certificate since it wasn't mentioned in the list of required documents.. The TCS staff in counter A waved me through.. PSK staff in counter B flagged an objection and referred me to the Passport Officer.. She was a nice lady and came back with me to the counter B guy and asked "PCC does not mention the marital status. Then why are u creating an issue?".. And hence my PCC was cleared..

2. Two months later my wife approached a different PSK for her PCC. I told her to carry the marriage certificate. But there the rule was different. It isnt sufficient if you have a marriage certificate, you also need your husband's name in your passport. When my wife mentioned that this was not applicable for me when I got my PCC, the passport officer told her "No, for women, this is the rule. You have to get ur husband's name on the passport"... :o :o ??? ???

It is sheer absurdity! >:( But thats the way our system is.. SO to avoid all confusion, spend an additional week + Rs 2k extra and get new passports. Keep the rule-abiders at PSK happy and contended..

:o :o :-X

That is so discriminatory. No one knows the rule and we are left to adhere to what some person says at counter A or B or whatever. I have checked the website repeatedly including the external affairs site for communication on what exactly is the process but there is nothing..So did u add both passport numbers with scanned copies for your wife in your application?

I see you got your visa. Congratulations!!

Nope i added only her most recent passport.. The old one is inconsequential..

No news is good news, so its not all bad.

I would rather have silence than rejection.

Hi guys,
I paid all the fees while applying, RPRF and all. I never uploaded the receipt. Is this ok? Or I must have had uploaded the receipts also?
Thanks

Relax. No need to upload RPRF receipt when you have paid it upfront during e-APR>..

Anyone who submitted passport at Chandigarh VFS and got it back, pls share your timeline. I submitted mine on 15 th March, but the status still shows it is in New Delhi whereas the VFS people told me it takes about a week to come back.

I have a friend who submitted it on 17th but has not got it back yet.. I submitted it on the same day too but at Bangalore.. Got mine back last week.. Her application has been approved on CIC website too.. Is yours?

You can try calling the VFS helpline and choosing the hindi option to speak to an executive. Those guys are more helpful.

Hello
Yes, my application also got approved last week, but no news of the passport yet. I had planned my travel already and waiting anxiously now. I did call up vfs and spoke to an executive in English though, will try the hindi option now.
Thanks.
