Here is the thing, the dates they mentioned doesn't mean thAt your file will have been reviewed by then. It means that they will send you an update. Which you already got( medical or history or pcc). The finilization of your file is nowhere close to come. In the best case scenarion you will get PPR end of august. Worst fall or winter. Hopefully petition will make them work

I keep hearing it for 14 months straight, but seeing that nobody gives a shit in Ottawa is not really inspiring. They could have avoided making such a huge backlog if they had brains and spread the load. Now we have to suffer because they are dumb

tbh i dont think they are 'dumb'.
i have this speculation that CIC will process newer applications first, to improve the ultimate process time. As for us, even they process our applications now , our applications still consider 'blacklog' and we won't be 'satisfied' with the timeline anyway. so strategically, if they process the newer applications and the backlog doesn't carry forward to new applicants, they have less applicants complain about process time.

As a reporter for three years. I see the government doesn't care about applicants, they cares about their 'image' and reputation that will affect their next election.
Next federal election is in 2 years, its not like april batch applicants will get their citizenship and vote in next election, they have no incentive to clear the backlog.

Say what you want I still think they are dumb. They could have spread the backlog load among other offices. Even lawyers say that, so this backlog is their fault

lawyers said from applicants perspective. I am not saying the blacklog is not their fault, but unfortunately at this point since the blacklog already existed, CIC and government put political interests in the first priority. Jason Kenney has launched new 'plans' every few months and many of them create knock-on effect on other policies and problems. You think kenney cares about applicants interests or his political career portfolio?

I am not trying to argue anything, but i have met with those politicians too many times, and in fact Jason kenney in person few time, that I know the cruel reality is they don't care. I personally asked Kenney about the backlog problem myself, he said it himself that the average process time has been reduced (but not CPP) that how i form my speculation. The petition wil be effective only caught on public (voters) attention but majority voters who are already canadian don't really care about immigration matters, so does conservatives.

This is exactly why they deliberately delay us. Delaying a small number of applicants would make their record better - reduced backlog, reduced processing time, blah blah... And I think this is fundamentally wrong.

One of the few immigration policies that I agree with the US immigration system is that they assign you a date when your application is received - a Priority Date - which determines when your file will be reviewed. If demand is higher, waiting time will be longer but your priority won't be changed.

I am actually really surprised Canada doesn't have such a queueing system. Basically, our system allows anyone to be treated unfairly no matter if he/she is a backlog applicant. I might be naive here but I don't know if there's any law in the constitution that ensures proper prioritizing immigration applicants. Is it really lawful for them to deliberately delay us so that overall processing time can be faster?

Also, I don't think there's too much backlog left. There's a small amount of late 2011 still waiting. Most cases from Dec 2011, Jan 2012 and early Feb 2012 already received their PPR back in fall last year. Majority of March, April and May applicants haven't receive their PPR. So I would estimate it's only about 4 to 5 months worth of inventory. How this backlog was created? It looks like CPP-O approved very few PPR from Sep 2012 to Dec 2012!

hi there,

It is still on Application Received but you know what I am not actually relying on the E-CAS as they are not updating it regularly. I emailed CPP Ottawa last 2 weeks ago and they said that my file is in process. I will email them again next week.
