Hi,

This is regarding the declaration for 'Schedule A - Background Declaration - IMM 5669' form of PR application. My husband is in canada on Work permit and I stay in India. He is now planning to apply for PR for both of us, he being the Principle applicant.

Schedule A - Background Declaration - IMM 5669 form should be filled by both Principle applicant and dependents separately and should be signed in front of a Canadian Government representative or official appointed by canadian government. Now the problem is, I stay in India. How do I give the declaration now? Will it be fine if I sign and get it notarized in India and then my husband gets it attested by Canadian Govt representative at Canada? Or is there any other alternative, without me actually going to Canada, coz I do not have my TRV ready to travel to canada right now.

Please suggest.

Hi

You are not supposed to fill that section in, as stated both on the form and in the guide.

IMM5669: DO NOT COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING SECTION NOW. YOU MAY BE ASKED TO SIGN IN THE PRESENCE OF A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT OR AN OFFICIAL APPOINTED BY THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT.

The guide: Note: The bottom section of Schedule A should not be completed at this time.

Hi canuck_in_uk,

Thank you for your reply. True that I should not sign in the declaration along with form and that I should be signing it infront of a canadian govt representative. And here comes my question - Since I stay in India, how do i sign it before a canadian govt representative? Can I get it notarized in India and then my husband will get it attested by Canadian official. Should that work?

Highlighting again the relevant wording:

You submit the application without filling in the section. There is a VERY, VERY small chance that CIC may actually ask you to sign another one in the presence of an official, in which case they would direct you to the nearest Canadian consulate. If they don't request it, you don't have to do it.

On the last page of imm5669 just sign the section with the heading "Declaration of applicant" ( signature and date). You do not need to fill the "Solemn declaration" and "interpreter declaration" sections.

The same form is used in different other categories and in some categories the applicant do sign it in front of a govt representative. e.g when someone makes a refugee claim at any point of entry in Canada he/she has to fill this form in front of an officer and is signed by the officer and the interpreter at that time.

So in your case you do not need to sign the "Solemn declaration" and "interpreter declaration" sections.

canuck_in_uk is right...hope its more clear now.
