Hi All,

How long does it take to process PR application for my wife. I sponsor her and she has Canadian work permit.
Anyone has this experience before?

Thank you! :)

Depends. Did you sponsor her inland or outland? If outland, which visa office will her file be processed through?

She is in Canada with me now and she has work permit. We sent the application to Vegreville, AB.

That means you applied inland.

Inland has two processing stages/steps.

The first stage takes 11 months to complete (assuming there are no complications with your file).

The second stage can take anywhere from a few weeks to more than a year to complete. The official processing time for the second stage is 8 months.

So it will probably take around 19 months total.

Official processing times are posted here:

Yes, we've heard from them. We were asked to do medical check up on Nov 19, 2012. Yet, due to health issues we postpone the x-ray till next couple months. My friend also had the same situation like me. And I think it won't take too long to get the final decision - PR Card (hopefully)! :D

How bout you @uplander?
