PR Application Files Transferred from Buffalo ----> Los Angeles VO from Sep 2011

Guys,

Congrats to all those who got their PPR or visas recently. I have been away from the forum for a while... I have a great news to share .. with the blessing of almighty Allah I have got job in Calgary .. still waiting for the official offer letter and pay negotiation .. but regardless of pay .. at least i would have a job lined up once we do our landing .. I would be working as an Associate- Investment Banking (Energy Trading) for an Investment Bank in Calgary.. I was suppose to have my final interview tomorrow but today I got a call from HR saying my tomorrow interview is exempted and someone from HR will contact me with details ( Comp packages etc within next 2 days) .. I had to go for total of 3 interviews - HR interview was really easy but the other two were exhaustive .. to be honest i was really worried about tomorrow .. i have 2 more interviews next week ( oil company - tuesday, bank - wednesday) .. but not really feel like preparing for any of them anymore hahah .. i m in party mode right now 8)

I have been looking for a place to stay in downtown for past 2 weeks or so.. but i am finding it harder to find a place to stay .. guys can anyone help me out finding an apartment in calgary (downtown) .. We haven't bought our tickets yet .. but planning to land around 5th Nov.. any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated .....

I'm not sure when they get my passport I think is almost the same as you. All I know it take about a month and a half to get it back. But I could be wrong, do you have any idea how much it take? I'll post the day I receive it. I hope we get it fast!

Hi Mirandaa, I understand u sent ur passport on Oct 1, but do u have an idea when they got it at the consulate. please could you let me know when you have your passport back. I sent mine to LA on Oct 4, they got it on Oct 5 and now am still waiting too

So know you just have to do the landing. By the way, do you know if the landing process is complicated? I mean, do they ask lots of questions and require documents?

Hi Mirandaa, I called my MP today and she told me the visa was issued on 16 October already. She feels I would get it back this weekend or next assuming they posted it immediately. Yours should be ready few days or same day as mine, so lets be hopeful for next week at the latest.

hi - thanks - i haven't done landing yet. I shall let you know once we complete our landing. I am planning on Nov 5th but haven't bought tickets yet. Honestly i was preparing for worst case scenario but thanks to Allah .. at least i won't have to worry about job .. i have seen so many depressing stories in this forum .. right now i m trying to rent a furnished apartment .. i have asked for help from few peoples within desi communities but didn't get any help .. it's going to cost me to rent a furnished apartment .. may be i didn't ask to right people ..

they are asking 1750 ( includes all utilities + heated parking + internet+ cable + furnished) .. i am thinking about signing a short term lease while i look for cheaper place .. no idea about the neighborhood but i can walk to work .. .. i guess i shall know soon .. really excited ..

miranda - what's your noc -- when are u planning on landing -- look me up once you are in calgary --

Hi Shuhash! I'm already in Canada I live in Edmonton but I still have to do the landing process which I think is so silly since I'm al ready here, right? I already have my ticket I'm planning to land beginning of January.

Rents are cheaper here in Edmonton but the place you actually find is not that bad. It includes everything and furnished. It's ok sometimes it depends on the location that prices rises.

Hope you get more help and you can find a cheaper place!

Hi all, for those who are waiting for their passport back it will take 12 days to received from the time it was sent. Got my passport back oct. 24. Sent by Los Angeles visa office last oct. 12. Hi ojart2002, there's a custom decleration attached to the envelope and there's a stamp of date that was sent by visa office.
