PR after 8Month PG Certificate & 8 months PGWP

Hi All,

I need your input.

I am currently on a study permit in an Ontario College along with my spouse who holds an open work permit and my minor child who also has a study permit. My date of program completion ends in August 2019. All of our permits expire in Nov 2019. I am currently employed part time in an accounting job.

Question1.
How can I qualify for a 1 year experience if my PGWP is less than 1 year? Will my part time work hours count toward it?

Question 2
What if my study permit expires while waiting for PGWP? I assume that I will still be allowed to work but will my spouse's open work permit and child's study permit be cancelled.

Question 3
How can utiltize the new extension on the time frame of 180 days given to apply for a PGWP?

These are answers to the best of my ability.
Q1: what is the length of your program? The validity of your PGWP should be at least equal. All part-time work during the time you study will not be counted as work experience.
Q2: if you apply for PGWP and are waiting for it, it does not matter if your study permit expires. But your spouse has to change the status to the visitor visa.
Q3: if you already work part-time in an accounting job, I think you should apply for PGWP once your program completed so you will be able to work full time.

My program is 8 months. But I have 4 years of work experience before I came to Canada.

Your 4 years of work experience is the foreign work experience outside Canada. To qualified for CEC you have to work 1-year calendar in Canada. Your best option now is to figure out if you can extend your PGWP or somehow improve your CRS point for EE.

Yes. Because your PGWP is only valid for 8 months. It’s not possible for you to apply CEC with 1year work in Canada experience. You have to think about other options.
