Hi everyone,

I'm hoping you guys can help me with something; I am in Medellin, Colombia and in the process of getting my permanent residency. I've received my passport request;

"This refers to your application for a Canadian Permanent Resident Visa. We are now ready to issue you and your accompanying dependents (if applicable) Permanent Resident visas.

Please submit submit the original passport (s) for yourself and all your accompanying dependents (if applicable)

Please send the passport(s) as soon as possible, as the validity of the visa(s) is limited and will usually not be extended. Any delay on your part will reduce the time you have to go to Canada and land as Permanent Resident(s). Should you not submit your passport(s) before the end of validity of your visa(s), we would assume that you are no longer interested in pursuing your applications and your application would be closed.

In order to return your documents, please send us a FEDEX account number or a DHL prepaid air-waybill. Also, please send us your updated contact information. Thank you."

I've been trying to send my passport for 2 days to no avail; FedEx, DHL, Deprisa, Servientrega, TNT and Coordinadora all say they either no longer provide the prepaid air-way bill or don't handle passports for security reasons.

Does anyone know of another courier company that can provide this service?

Thank you in advance for your help,

LNP

I would suggest that you email CIC urgently explaining your issue and requesting an alternative method.

For the benefit of the members on this forum, could you please give some details about your case, in particular the class that you applied under and the timelines.

It would be of great benefit to the many of us who are still waiting to hear from CIC.

Hi Sckel,

Thank you for your reply. I wanted to update my info so it shows under my name but I haven't got a clue of how to do it.

I applied for a Business Visa, as self-employed.

-Sent in my simplified application in December 2011.
-First batch of documents requested in August, 2012.
-Second batch of documents requested in February 2013.
-Medical examination and RPRF requested in May, 2013.
-PRR in July 12, 2013.

I just received an email from the embassy where they tell me to contact the Visa Application Center (VAC) in Quito (I'm in Colombia), as they offer a Passport Transmission Service for a fee. I've contacted them but they say they only offer that service for people who submitted the original application with them; I emailed the embassy again and they said they will contact VAC and make sure they do provide the service.

I'm now trying to find someone with a FedEx account in order to send it. Apparently they do provide the service but only to people with accounts, but only companies can open FedEx accounts in Colombia.

It's been a very long process, my file seemed to disappear for months after I sent it and all I had was my courier service confirmation with the Canadian embassy stamp (Genius that I am, I didn't scan my bank receipt for the Application fee). Hopefully, I'll find a way out of this seemingly small problem which, to me at least, seems like an awful nightmare.

It doesn't say how long I have to submit my passport but I have this sinking feeling that if I don't get it there and back soon, and land on m POE, it will all be taken away.

Despite the long process, the Embassy staff has been extremely helpful, though I think I'm driving the poor Visa Officer crazy with all my emails.

air-waybill in Colombia, But I am in Canada now

Hello everyone,

I came to Canada to stay with my husband with my visitor Visa. We were notified about the approval of the Permanent Residence and we sent my passport to the immigration section in Bogota. Now, I receive the notification in which I have to sent to the embassy the prepaid service (waybill);but Fedex and DHL don't offer those services to a person (has to be a company).

Can anyone please help me?, what can I do?

Thank you
