PPR to COPR Journey - PPR in JAN/FEB-19

Hey everyone,

My passport was delivered on July 4th - called CIC yesterday agent told me "the officer is printing your visa, making sure everything is right"
The agent never said the application status is now approved though.

I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences about calling CIC and hearing the visa is printing? Not sure how long this might take and what the next steps are after that...

Any good thought to share would give me peace of mind. Thanks!

I think the fact that they are printing your visa suggests your application has been approved. Otherwise, why would they print a visa in the first place

I got my copr... thanks all for the support .. I do have one question... My copr is CE1 category and its shows destination as Calgary... please advise do I need directly land in Calgary only or can I do port of entry at Toronto.. please help...

From what I've read on other posts, people didn't have trouble landing at a port of entry not matching the CoPR

I am not sure about whether it is like that intentionally as the kid will be traveling with you or did they miss it. I would definitely call CIC help desk and confirm.

Good question,, i believe when they say printing visa it means printing your COPR and visa if applicable. Now if you are in Canada already that means you dont need visa so it is going to be a COPR. Put in mind that CPC-Ottawa is the only office in canada prints visa and COPR.

Anyone can correct me especially regarding visa vs COPR..please write it down.

It's not correct. Even if you are in Canada , they will issue a PR visa, if you hold a non-visa exempt passport. If you are from a visa exempt country, they will just issue a COPR.

It's not correct. Even if you are in Canada , they will issue a PR visa, if you hold a non-visa exempt passport. If you are from a visa exempt country, they will just issue a COPR.

Thanks for replying.... So if you are from countries need visa, then IRCC will issue both PR visa and COPR. am i correct? then how long the PR visa on a passport is valid? does it need renewal?

I'm about to find out, just called CIC and agent told me passports will be sent back to me today
Waiting for the return tracking number to activate.

Hi ,

I think it's valid for one year , it's only for landline , one time entry visa. They will mail you a PR card after. You can't travel after your landing until u get that. Good luck
