Thanks folks. I cannot quite believe it.

Sadgirl - I'm really hoping you hear good news. It doesn't make any sense that mine was so quick and you are still waiting. I wish so much that I could find something to suggest to help you along but all I can send is positive thoughts and good wishes.

So I'm just curious.

Any idea how they made a decision in just 9 days??? I mean, seriously, 9 days! That's amazing. :-0 So much for Winston travelling to the UK by yacht with your application in tow!

LOL ariell.

You know I have no idea seriously. All I can say honestly is that before we applied, we re and re-read the guides a hundred times. We read these boards and searched for answers to our questions (posted by hundreds of others) before we even started filling the forms and we were totally honest with everything we sent. We didn't send reams of info because we didn't have it.

We sent the sponsor stuff with a letter from Canadian's Mom saying we would be living with her and that she would assist in providing for us. We sent evidence that we had around $20k savings, copies of my degrees, six hilarious letters from family and friends attesting to our relationship, evidence of 4 trips each year to BC and Toronto to visit family and emails of no real significance showing the development of our relationship spanning 4 years (from arranging dates in the beginning to the later ones like, 'can you pick up some salmon and vegetables on your way home from work and I'll cook dinner - you get to load the dishwasher')... two utility bills from each year of cohab, my for sale details for the house and a statement from each of us saying what we hoped for the future and what I thought I could offer Canada as an immigrant.

I never thought we would get this so fast, when I saw London had begun processing on Oct 19th I presumed I'd wait until December or so for this kind of fabulous news.

As I've posted on the other site, you and rj, pmm etc were invaluable during our research; you should feel so proud.

PS. The sponsor in our application was still legally married. We sent a copy of the divorce petition along with a copy of OP2 which dealt with "already married" people - can't remember the actual section but it basically stated that even though married to someone else, one could still establish a common law relationship.

That's really quick!! Leaves you lots of time to prepare for a Canadian Christmas :) Congratulations!!
