PPR issued but no time to submit before travelling

Hello all, we have received our PPR for Paris VO, however we are due to travel on the 09/06/2021 (9th June), obviously this leaves us only 10 days roughly to submit passport and receive it back with COPR before flying.

We were planning on flying a long time ago due to my wifes pregnancy but now we are unsure what to do with the PPR.

Has anyone experienced this or can offer any advice? How quickly will Paris VO respond if we email them?

I don't believe u will get it back before ur date of travel, people normally get 30 day to submit documents so if it Canada u coming after your arrive in canada u can submit your passport to Ottawa if it is still within the 30 day

Secondly with this option you won't be able to land as a pr as yet

thank you, our PPR does not state that Ottowa is an option though

You can certainly try Paris. But may be hard to get a response. Or call ircc.

Does your ppr letter have instructions on what to do if you are already in Canada? They usually do.

If you are okay with not getting the ppr status on arrival - and I assume that's the case since you were already planning to depart - you should be able to follow that procedure after arrival. I think they do it all by internet now.

I am not certain about this though.

Hello to the fountain of knowledge :)

unfortunately, our PPR does not state what to do if already in Canada. We have seen an example of it, but ours does not say.

We are happy to finish the process in Canada, as you say, that was our plan from the start as we did not think it would be finished this quick. I will try calling IRCC on Monday.

Again, congrats.

There was a thread (Beijing? HK? don't recall) where someone got PPR and was already in Canada, and there were no instructions about how to do if already in Canada. You might want to check that - I think just called or did webform or emailed VO - and got the answer that it would be switched to in-Canada finalization.

I don't see that you travelling to Canada and then doing the landing there would be an issue. (It would be different if the reverse, eg an inland applicant who was out of Canada).

Perhaps slightly better from an IRCC process standpoint - because perfectly clear - would be for the PA to change flight plans and travel after the citizen. Since there's a pregnancy involved (of the citizen?) - to heck with that.

When you write Paris and/or call IRCC, you could emphasize the pregnancy issue - you really cannot change your flight plans. (Ah note - perhaps not emphasize the pregnancy issue if the pregnant person is the PA).

There's a possibility - small but real - that someone in the VO would decide to deal with this on an urgent basis and have you send your stuff right away and be willing to say that they WILL turn it around as quickly as possible. The problem, as always, is finding that person.

Overall I think it shouldn't be a problem as outland applicants 'land' in Canada all the time, the timing is the primary or only complicating factor here. Good luck.

The sponsor is the pregnant citizen and we can't change plans otherwise she would not be able to fly until after the birth, i am also not leaving her on her own in Canada heavily pregnant.

Timing is definitely the issue as you say, we emailed Paris VO already so hopefully they get back to us quickly, failing that i will call IRCC.

I dont think it should be a problem to switch it to inland process, many have done it, but usually that happens in advance, they have changed their address etc.

I phone IRCC today. They advised that once we have landed in Canada, we raise a webform to Paris VO advising them that our address has now changed and we wish to do the landing from within Canada.

Quick question, will this be the fabled virtual landing that i have read about?

Don't know much about it but apparently being called landing portal, something with the word portal in it if searching. Inland threads may have more info, although being used for outland cases (like yours). Something to do with the internet...

The portal seems to be pretty recent (last couple of months?).

Assume your spouse has a TRV.
 
she is a Canadian citizen so won’t need one. I won’t need one either as I’m joining her as an immediate family member for non-discretionary purposes + dual intent + visa free country

Did a bit more digging. The AOR in Bejing through me off. Just wrote that I assume you realize you must live in Alberta for 12 months or you can be asked to repay any healthcare you receive.

Yes that is a virtual landing. May take a month or so.
