Hi

Heard there was 3 month window period, only after that new PR becomes eligible for health insurance

Health card can be obtained before that too ?

Hi,

For Ontario you need to live in the province for 3 months in order to get your Health Card. I think it may be same for other provinces.

I know, i have another 20 days left before i can get it, i think for other provinces this is significantly shorter

ok, So you bought some private health insurance ? If yes can you share details on costs & benefits ?

Thanks. Like the idea.

I would suggest to add a few more issues to the agenda especially immediate family sponsorship, Spousal sponsorship etc.

Good to see this thread, post PR there is a long way to go

Hello All,

Just got my visa stamped today.. now the next step is to plan for landing. Can someone please confirm that applicant and all dependents have to travel before the visa expires. Also a letter with the VISA states that all family members are required to be examined before you go to Canada. Can someone please let me know what this means?
Also what are the options available to look for jobs? I am from IT background and currently looking for jobs on indeed.ca.

Congratulations :)
Principal applicants and all others must enter canada before the due date on immigrant visa issued, check COPR/ Visa stamped on passport. PA can enter before but others can not enter before PA.

Examined before, When is your medical expiring ? Infact Landing due date is actually expiry of medical results that was submitted along with PR application online. It is 1 year from the date you went to medical tests. if they have expired you will be required to retake them for all. Better to enter before medical expires.

There are many threads about finding work on this forum, Firstly please research difference between CV & resume, also research on cover letters. Canadian employers use SW to filter resume so a standard one will not work, you will be required to alter resume and design cover letter with every job you apply. This will increase your chances of getting a job asap. Visit the section on CIC on preparations for arrival and join as many forums they advice you & you feel useful, they will prepare you for arrival and also for House hunt, job hunt etc etc.
