Friends I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I got my PPR from NY and they have given me 30 days. I've applied for a new passport from the Indian consulate in Toronto and will get it about a week short of the deadline. Can people share thier experinec of passport submission at NY. Also can it be submitted in person ? If yes can you share details ?
THANK YOU A MILLION !!!

Yes you can take your passport in person to the NY visa office and get your visa stamped. I did not do it that way, but I know people who went in person and got it done.

yes, it is a matter of 2 to 3 hours in the visa office. Look at their website for their timings and go accordingly.

Are you referring to Buffalo CIC or NY? If it's Buffalo, yes they accept passport submission in person. If it's NY, I'm not sure. I did mine in Buffalo, it took me 45 minutes.

Hi, How did you receive your PPR via email or postal mail? My status changed to Medicals Received about 10 days ago, yet I haven't heard from NYC.

NYC does NOT allow for in-person PP stamping.

Go to mid-section:

Immigrants
Approved Applicants for Permanent Residence

Submissions of passports are only accepted by mail. Passports are returned by mail within 30 business days. This does not include mailing time.

For mailing instructions, please click here.

Additional Important Information:

* Check that your passport and each accompanying dependents' passport are valid at least one year from the date of your immigration medical examination.
* Make sure there is at least one completely blank page, other than the last page in each passport. If dependent children are included in their parent's passport, an additional blank page should be available for each included dependent.

Also just received my PPR from NYC today, and the instructions are exactly the same as on the website, passports have to be mailed.

And for anybody awaiting a PPR from NYC, it does come via Snail Mail. In my case it took about 2 weeks from the date my ecas status changed to "Meds Recd". Thanks.

why did you apply for new passport? Didn't send the copies of passport alongwith the new passport?
If you get new passport and will the indian consulate give you the cancelled old one ?

Don't you think its problem if you take new passport?

In my case I have sent copies of my daughter's passport whose expiry is september next year. My case status is received by visa office. Lets say if I get PPR by end of Dec 2010 and Passport validity of my daughter is less than one year. I think this is the requirement that passport validatity should be 1 year after receiving the medical.
Please advise.
Should I apply new passport for my daughter now without the request from CHC to save the time?
Another concern is that the picture on the passport is not matching as she is now. That picture was of 1 year old..

Apologies if NYC instruction says we cannot come in person. From other posts I came to know people who visited the office in person and got it stamped. That is the reason I said that.
