PPR for applicant working in Saudi Arabia !

Dear friends,

Keeping in mind that passports are kept by the employers in Saudi Arabia and if someone gets a PPR while working in Saudi Arabia, he will have to request the employer for PP giving some solid excuse. My question is if such a scenario arises, for how much time (approx) should one borrow the PP from the employer OR how much time does it take normally for a PP sent from Riyadh to London VO untill it reaches back to Canadian Embassy Riyadh after stamping of visa.
Secondly, for how long does this visa stay valid and one can travel at any time during the validity time or earliest you travel is better.

Hi I was also working in Saudi Arabia with Civil Aviation for several years and as per my understanding it is depending on the employer that how long a PP can be released to the employee for any reason. For me there was no problem with my HR department as I explained the reason for getting my PP. I got the pp back with visa within a month. But it may not be same time line for every case. Perhaps it could take 6 to 8 weeks also depending on the situation.

After getting the visa you can make the landing in Canada within the validity time which is before reaching ONE year from your medical exam date. Suppose, if your medical was done on 30 May 2011 you have time up to 29 May 2012 for landing.

thanks wilson, at least you gave some idea.would you mind sharing the excuse you gave to obtain the PP.Don'y you think being truthful to the employer simply means that you are risking your job ??Is there anyway we can make it by going on long vacation (say 3 months) and sending your PP from your home country for visa stamping....something like that...pls suggest.

If u r a government employee,there should not be any problem for getting the passort.If u dont want them to know the exact purpose, just tell them that u need your passport for stamping visit visa of any country.
I think it,ll not be any problem.

Hi Hasni,
You could tell ur employer that ur son is in Pakistan and his passport has expired. To renew the same the Pakistani Passport Office needs to see the original passport of the father. Hence u need the same for renewal.

good idea but what about once i receive it back after visa stamping and take it to my HR for handing over again.He sees the visa and may reveal it to my bosses.How to cope with such a situation ?? :-X
