If your wife is from a visa non-exempt country, you will need to apply for proof of citizenship before you'll be able to bring your new baby to Canada. This process can only be started after the baby is born and can take several months. Your wife should notify her visa office that she has had a baby after it's born. However the baby does not need to be added to the visa since he/she will already be a Canadian citizen.
