I'm not sure what you mean by the 'mode of submission.' Do they stipulate anything about the surname? Having said that, the blank surname column is a common problem with Indian passport holders. I had the same. I just split the two parts of my name into surname and given name myself while applying. My visa is stamped correctly as that too, though in my PP the surname is blank. HTH.

Hi Charmeuse,

I mean the updated info chart, where u hv to mention the surname.
In my case i do not have a surname and my given name is a single name which cannot be split. For eg: it is only shahrukh and there is nothing after that.

Pls reply.

Thanks

Case-I:
If u have 'multiple names'...
.....................................................................SPLIT IT AS....................
........Full Name............................................... Surname....... First Name
eg-1. Ahmad Abdullah Abdul Kadeer Al Otaibi........ Al Otaibi....... Ahmad Abdullah Abdul Kadeer
eg-2. Caroline Von Mittle................................... Mittle........... Caroline Von
eg-3. Shahrukh Khan........................................ Khan............ Shahrukh

Case-II:
If u have 'only' One name...

How the CHC-London had been communicating with you till date? Were they referring you as, say, "Shahrukh" only? If that is the case, you can safely condone the 'surname' column. And write your 'only' name on the 'First Name' column.

Hi charmeuse,

I also do not have my surname on my PP (Indian). As you have said that you also do not have your surname on your PP and CHC has issued VISA on you, I think it is clear now that CHC does not want surname on PP compulsorily.

God Bless U.

Hi qorax,

I don't have my family name as surname in my PP.

For eg my name is Ramesh Kumar, will it do? Or do I have to add my family surname in my PP?

Plz. reply.

Thanks.

If u want to, u can approach your Consulate to add the Surname on your Pp. However, if it is Ok with u why to take the trouble? Just split your name as Surname: 'Kumar' & First Name: 'Ramesh'. That'd suffice.

penpal, you have problems with your own name and I got my Mum's name in 3 different form in her educational, marriage and passport papers. I guess I would be in problem too explaining why that happened. You dont worry, follow as qorax said.

Qorax /seniors Please help me

My deadline to submit passport is 20 oct. my wife's passport surname column is blank but given names there are two words

Please advice me what to do in the chart . Can I apply with the same passport and update the chart as per the pp

Or I have to apply for a new which will take some time.

I haven't seen any details or statements from Canada telling that surname is a must for stamping visa

Dear Sir/Madam,

This is in response to your recent email enquiry to the Immigration Section of the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi.

CIC’s visa office in New Delhi receives a high volume of permanent resident applications from people with the surnames Singh and Kaur.

Asking applicants to provide a surname in addition to Singh or Kaur has been an administrative practice used by our visa office in New Delhi as a way to improve service and reduce incidents of mistaken identity. It also ensures the safety and security of Canadians by facilitating security screening.

Providing an additional surname is voluntary and no permanent resident application will be rejected if the applicant chooses not to provide it.

In the national interest, CIC and its security partners in the Government of Canada will, however, need to be satisfied that individuals are who they say they are, and that they meet the requirements for entering the country.

Applicants are therefore asked to provide all names which they have used or been known by to ensure that effective screening can be done.

However, the name on your PR Visa shall be in accordance with your passport details.

We trust that this information will be of assistance.
